Co-Founder & Owner, EPIC Health and Movement
Director of Pediatrics and Maternal Care
Dr. Melanie Abbott-Cambridge—affectionately known as Dr. Mel—is the co-founder and owner of EPIC Health and Movement, where she proudly serves as the Director of Pediatrics and Maternal Care. At the heart of her work is a deep and unwavering commitment to supporting babies, children, expectant mothers, and postpartum recovery. She is driven by a simple but powerful purpose: to be a difference maker. Whether it’s through gentle newborn care, supporting a mother’s healing journey, or brightening someone’s day with a warm smile, Dr. Mel strives to make a meaningful and positive impact in every patient’s life.
Dr. Mel’s passion for pediatric and maternal health is not only professional—it’s personal. Early in her career, she encountered a young child with a neurological concern that sparked her determination to pursue advanced training in pediatric care. Since then, she has dedicated herself to helping little ones thrive, empowering mothers during pregnancy and beyond, and creating a safe, compassionate space for families.
Dr. Mel graduated from Brock University with a degree in Community Health Sciences and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. A lifelong athlete, she competed with Brock’s Varsity Rowing team and proudly represented Canada on the National Rowing Team. After chiropractic college, she continued to give back to the rowing community through education and injury prevention lectures for university and provincial athletes.
To provide the highest standard of care for her smallest patients, Dr. Mel has completed specialized training in Brazelton’s Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale (NBAS) at Boston Children’s Hospital, allowing her to assess newborns under 8 weeks of age with extraordinary precision. She also holds a Master’s degree in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Health from AECC University in Bournemouth, UK, and is certified in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University.
A respected educator, Dr. Mel mentors students from multiple colleges and universities through clinical placements, including chiropractic interns from CMCC and D’Youville College. She also worked with Logan University in St. Louis to help build their Evidence-Informed Pediatric Practice curriculum and taught in their Master’s program as adjunct faculty.
Through every patient visit, every student she mentors, and every family she serves, Dr. Mel brings heart, knowledge, and joy. Her mission is simple: to help, to heal, and to make a difference—one baby, one mom, one patient and one brightened day at a time.
